Who is Sherrie Foster, candidate for Troy City Council?

I am a lifelong Troy resident, born at Dettmer Hospital and raised in this incredible community, first in King’s Chapel and then Westbrook, and a proud graduate of Troy High School. I chose to stay here to build my career and raise my family because I believe in the strength of this city and the people who call it home.

As a working wife and mother, I understand the challenges families face every day. My husband and I have spent nearly 15 years navigating life together, raising our two young children, and investing in the future of our community.

Passionate about early childhood education, I collaborated with a cross-functional team to launch a nonprofit preschool that now educates more than 100 children. As chairperson of the board, I oversee the school’s budget, ensuring its long-term financial health, while developing policies and procedures that prioritize safety, compliance, and quality education.

​

Professionally, I lead personnel and operations at a medical device manufacturing facility, managing a team of nearly 70 Miami Valley residents. I know what it takes to balance budgets, solve problems, and make decisions that impact people’s lives. I also understand the realities of owning a business—having previously run a successful small business in Troy, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges faced by local entrepreneurs, especially those in our beautiful downtown.

Beyond my career, I am an active supporter of Troy’s local businesses and a current participant in Leadership Troy, a community leadership development program through the Troy Chamber of Commerce. I believe in accountability—owning my decisions and holding others to the same standard—because leadership isn’t about making excuses; it’s about making things happen.

I am running for City Council to bring that same passion, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to Troy’s future. This is my home, and I’m ready to work for it.
